Jack Hatch is the Principal of the Hatch Development Group, a builder of affordable housing opportunities for urban & rural communities throughout Iowa. He has received state & national recognition for his successful projects revitalizing neighborhoods. Working with neighborhood leaders, city and county officials, lenders and investors, Jack Hatch designed, built and managed over $160 million of housing projects throughout Iowa.
Jack Hatch was an Iowa State Senator and the 2014 Democratic nominee for Iowa Governor. He earned his B.S. and M.P.A. from Drake University in 1972 and 1973, respectively. In 2010, he chaired the White House Task Force of State Legislators for Healthcare Reform and spearheaded legislation that established Iowa as the state with the highest percentage of children covered by health insurance.
Jack is married to Sonja Roberts, his business partner and wife for 32 years. They have two daughters Regan and Caslon. Regan is married to Jay Simpson and they have a 3 1/2 year old son, Hudson. They share their home with their two dogs, Bella Blue and Diesel.
Jack and Sonja are principals in their property management company, Perennial Properties Management Services. The company manages over 600 apartment units in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and Newton; together, with Hatch Development Group, they have 13 employees.
